How many questions are on the driving school test, and how many can you get wrong?

There are 15 questions, each with 4 options and one correct answer; the water transport test has 11 questions. To pass the theory test, you need at least 13 correct answers out of 15: no more than 2 mistakes .

Where is the driving school in Black Russia?

It’s in Lytkarino. Enter /gps → Important Places → Driving School (Автошкола), or open the Map Legend → “Driving School” → “Track”. All 5 categories are tested in the same building.

Are the answers different for categories B, C, and D?

No, they use the same question bank: road signs, controls, and the radial menu. Water transport is the only category with its own set of 11 questions, covering water signs and boat controls.

How much does it cost to get a driving licence?

A — 1,500 ₽, B — 2,500 ₽, C — 5,000 ₽, D — 3,000 ₽, water transport — 20,000 ₽. The fee is charged when you press “Start” and isn’t refunded if you fail .

How long is a driving licence valid?

30 days. After that, you have to retake the exam or renew your licence at the Traffic Police duty station. You can lose your licence early for 3 unpaid fines in a day, immediately on your 10th fine, or if a Traffic Police officer takes it for an Administrative Code violation.

What should I do if the game crashes during the practical test?

Check your connection and close background apps before you start: you’ve already paid during the theory test. If a technical issue interrupts your exam, contact the game’s official support center.

You take the Black Russia driving licence exam at the Lytkarino driving school in two stages: first, a theory test with 15 questions, where you need at least 13 correct answers, then a practical test on the driving course and in the city. Questions are picked at random from a shared bank, so memorizing answers “by number” is pointless—search by the first few words instead.

Identify the control question by its picture

Six questions (four for boats) all sound the same: “What does this button do?” The only difference is the picture, which shows one of the car’s radial menu buttons. Look at the icon and choose the option that describes what it does. There are six correct answers in total:

turns the engine on or off;
opens or closes the doors;
turns the lights on or off;
inserts the key into the ignition or removes it;
parks the car;
lets you control the suspension if it has been upgraded in the tuning shop.

Answer collections disagree about the last button: some say “controls the suspension,” others say “lighting.” The picture in the game is what matters: if one of those options is among the four answers, the other three describe different buttons. Before the test starts, the game shows reference materials with the same buttons. Spend ten seconds looking them over to save one of your two allowed mistakes.

Don’t mix up the numbers on road signs

Most signs are easy to figure out, but the ones with numbers can trip you up. Memorize these:

“Built-up area” — maximum 60 km/h; some answer collections have a typo, “6О”—the correct answer is sixty;
“End of built-up area” — maximum 90 km/h;
“Motorway” — 40 to 110 km/h; stopping outside designated parking areas is prohibited;
“Bus stop” — regular cars must not stop within 15 meters;
“Main road” applies for 1 intersection.

Here’s what each category unlocks, according to the game’s official guide:

A — motorcycles.
B — passenger cars up to 3,500 kg: taxi driver, gas service worker, electrician, car thief, auto mechanic. You need B to join any government organization.
C — trucks: long-haul trucker, combine harvester driver, cash collector, garbage collector.
D — buses with more than 8 seats: bus driver, firefighter in the Emergency Situations Ministry.
Water transport — jet skis and boats; required for divers.

I’d start with B: for 2,500 ₽, it unlocks taxi work from level 3 and gets you into any faction. C costs 5,000 ₽ and is the next one to get if you’re aiming to be a long-haul trucker. The water transport licence costs 20,000 ₽, the most of all, so get it only if you’re sure you want to become a diver. The jobs page compares which ones pay better.

Pass the theory and practical tests on your first try

Pay your fines at an ATM: “Pay Fines” → “Pay All Fines”. You can’t enter the driving school with unpaid fines.

In the classroom, walk up to the “Driving School Exam” marker, choose a category, and press “Continue”—you won’t be charged yet.

On the driving course, follow the prompts on the right: road markings, turns, parking, braking, reversing, turn signals, and headlights.

Before driving into the city, turn on your headlights from the radial menu and follow the markers while obeying traffic rules. The timer is in the bottom-left corner.

Mistakes during the practical test only give you warnings: the exam continues as long as you follow the prompts and finish in time. The timer is what makes you fail, not hitting a curb—don’t spend too long on any one prompt. The water transport practical is easier: just follow the markers, with no driving course.

Retake the test or buy a licence if you fail

You won’t get your money back for a failed attempt, and a retake costs the full price again. If you don’t want to spend more time on it, there are two workarounds:

Store → Services → Documents — all licence categories in one bundle for BC. The “All Licences” bundle costs 150 BC and includes a firearms licence, too.
Licence issuers — Government employees at rank 6. Check who’s online with , then buy from them in person at the Government building. The Government sets the price, so there’s no room to negotiate.

Licences don’t last forever. Your licence is valid for 30 days, after which you have to retake the exam. The Traffic Police service guide also describes another option: renewal. Go to the duty station window in the Traffic Police building → “Renew Licence” → choose a category → “Select”, or ask any Traffic Police officer. Compare the renewal price with the cost of retaking the test while you’re there—sometimes it’s cheaper to take the test again.

Get your phone ready for the practical test

The main complaint in the comments under licence test videos isn’t the questions, but crashes: “connection lost” during the practical test or a crash as you approach a marker. There’s no official breakdown of these issues, but the developers have fixed the driving school several times:

19.08.2023 — update 1.1 fixed a driving school crash on iOS;
09.02.2024 — fixed a bug with turn signals during the exam;
05.06.2025 — players now spawn already behind the wheel when the exam starts.

The fee is charged as soon as the theory test starts, so take care of anything that might crash the game before you press “Start”: close background apps, don’t switch between apps, and check your connection. If a technical issue interrupts the exam through no fault of your own, contact the game support center—it’s the only place that can look into a lost payment.

Don’t lose your licence on your first day

You can lose your licence before it expires. Running a red light costs 400 ₽, but 3 unpaid fines within 24 hours will get your licence taken away, and your 10th fine takes it away immediately, even if you’re behind the wheel. A Traffic Police officer can also issue a fine and manually take your licence: a traffic violation that causes an accident carries a 30,000 ₽ fine and licence confiscation under the Administrative Code. There’s only one way to get your licence back: pay all your fines and retake the exam.
