How to Join a Gang in Black Russia

To join a gang, there’s no HR department: wait for an interview announcement in chat and go to the base, or apply on your server’s forum. You’ll need a medical card, a weapons licence, and level 3. Capture and business wars are for higher ranks.

Gangs are criminal organizations: shootouts, business wars, and stealing supplies from the military base. There’s no HR department or charter test like there is for government factions. The gang members themselves decide who gets in during an interview. People join for the action, but there’s a risk of prison time too: gang membership is a separate Criminal Code offense.

Join a gang

Requirements from the guide:

  • Account level 3 — but you can only get a weapons licence from level 4, with 70 law-abiding points, so in practice you need level 4;
  • a medical card;
  • a weapons licence;
  • forum applications also require a category B driving licence;
  • an RP name in the format FirstName_LastName, for example Ricardo_Vendetta. You won’t get in with a name like “Killer228” — pick one using the nickname generator.

Expect RP and terminology questions at the base interview

Watch chat for an announcement like: “An interview is being held for the Arzamas/Batyrevo/Lytkarino gang. Location: base.” Go to /gps → 5. Criminal Groups → the gang you want, walk up to the wall, and wait for someone to check you.

They’ll ask about RP. Here’s an example from the guide: how to roleplay handing over a passport:

  1. 1

    /do Паспорт в барсетке.

  2. 2

    /me достал паспорт из барсетки

  3. 3

    /do Паспорт в руке.

  4. 4

    /me открыл вторую страницу паспорта, затем передал его человеку напротив

They’ll also ask about terms: DM — killing without an IC reason, SK — killing someone where they spawn, TK — killing a teammate, RK — revenge for your own death, and OOC and IC. One more thing to watch out for: in RP, you don’t know a stranger’s name until they introduce themselves. You can find all this in RP terms and roleplay examples.

Submit a four-part application on the forum

Forum → your server → “Criminal Organizations” → the “Application to Join an Organization” thread. Use this format:

  1. Your Nick_Name.
  2. Stats — screenshots of /mm and /time.
  3. Why you want to join us.
  4. Date and signature.

Then you’ll arrange an interview. Under the general organization rules, if you’re accepted through a forum application, your starting rank can’t be higher than 3.

Learn about captures and business wars

“Capture” is player slang for taking territory and fighting other gangs. The official rules and guide don’t use the word; instead, they describe these mechanics:

  • Business war (protection racket). You can take part from rank 6. Promotions through the forum, applications, or the leader’s decision can assign you to one. Start a war with /bizwar—according to the command lists, you need rank 9. See businesses under your protection with /bwlist. You can disrupt an opponent’s shooting rhythm here only if both sides agree and the admin monitoring the fight has been warned.
  • Stealing supplies from the military base. Load them with /loadgun. A criminal with a travel pass and a military uniform can go to the dispatcher and take supplies to the gang warehouse. If they mess up, a manhunt will be announced. Find out more on the Army page.
  • The gang warehouse for ammo can be opened and closed with /close—according to the command lists, from rank 8.

Check your gang’s forum topics under “Criminal Organizations” to see exactly what you can capture on your server and what rules apply.

Know where you can shoot

The rule against DM (dealing damage without an IC reason) has exceptions, and they’re all related to crime:

  • Gang territory — the vehicle lot and the HQ with its warehouse. Outsiders can’t enter without an escort. Since 2021, gang territories have had green zones.
  • High-crime zone (DM zone) — a place for daily mass shootouts. The rules give the 24/7 store at the entrance to Arzamas as an example. You can shoot there without an IC reason, but you can’t interfere with uninvolved players or deliberately shoot people driving by. The administration can restrict or disable the zone.

Outside these areas, the usual punishments apply: DM — 90 minutes in Jail; Mass DM (three or more players) — a warn or a 3–7 day ban. See the table in the DM breakdown.

DM / ДМDeathMatch (deathmatch)

Killing or damaging another player without a valid IC reason. Damaging vehicles also counts. Defensive DM is allowed (video evidence is required if you report it). Exceptions: regular in-game conflicts, criminal organization territories, agreed-upon duels, and high-crime areas.

Example: A player walks up to a random person on the street and starts hitting or shooting them without any conflict or backstory.

Punishment: Jail for 90 minutes · rule 2.19

TK / ТКTeam Kill (team kill)

Killing a member of your own or an allied faction or organization without an IC reason.

Punishment: Jail for 60 minutes / Warn (for two or more kills) · rule 2.15

Зона повышенной криминальной активности (DM-зона, PVP-зона)High Crime Activity Zone

An area where large shootouts happen regularly (the rules give the 24/7 store by the entrance to Arzamas as an example). DM without an IC reason is allowed, but you must not interfere with uninvolved players or deliberately attack random players (including those driving by); admins can introduce restrictions or disable the zone.

КаптCapture

Territory capture (a fight between criminal gangs over territory).

Keep the gang commands handy

CommandWhat it doesSyntaxWho can
Organize a business war (provide protection)—rank 9 or higher
List of businesses under protection—members of criminal organizations
Open or close the gang warehouse (with ammo)—rank 8 or higher
Gang chat (IC/RP)/f [текст]members of criminal organizations
Gang chat (OOC)/fn [текст]members of criminal organizations
Give materials to another player (crime factions only)/givemet [ID]members of criminal organizations
Loading/unloading supplies (stealing from the military base)—members of criminal organizations
Put on a mask (hides your nickname; criminals wear one during attacks)—everyone / criminal factions
Tie up a player (rope)/tie [ID]members of criminal organizations

Gang commands may vary between servers, so check in-game. Use /f for organization chat and /fn for OOC chat.

Know the price of crime

Criminal Code article Offense Sentence
19 Gang member activity (only during a raid) 4 years
17 Robbing a civilian or government employee 3 years
18 Kidnapping or taking someone hostage 3 years
12 Trespassing on a military base or entering the Prison Service 4 years
9 Possessing a weapon without a licence 2 years

See the full list in the Black Russia Criminal Code. You serve your sentence in a Prison Service colony. For escape routes, see the escape map. Under the charter, a criminal organization member pays 700 ₽ for hospital treatment, compared with 500 ₽ for a civilian.

Ties with government employees. Government faction employees are forbidden from working with gangs under a federal decree. The FSB infiltrates gangs and listens to their radio. Getting a travel pass from “your guy” in the Army is a violation for him—and if you mess up, a manhunt will be after you.

Leave a gang through the tablet or its leader

Go to Tablet → Factions → Members → your nickname → “Resign”. You’ll need the “Determination” upgrade or VIP status at Silver rank or higher. You can also leave through the leader. That’s how it works in government factions, but gang leaders may add their own conditions on each server. Find the general rules on the factions page.
