You blew through a checkpoint without stopping when the traffic officer signaled you, and a minute later a Traffic Police car is right behind you. The officer hits you with EMI, and your engine stalls in the middle of the highway. If your car has PDV installed, the pulse won’t work—you’ll have a 30-second head start. The term was introduced with chases in July 2025, so you won’t find it in older RP term lists.
- ПДВEMP suppression
A system that protects a lawbreaker’s vehicle from EMP (electromagnetic radiation that stalls the engine) during a chase with the Traffic Police.
Example: A suspect being pursued can defend themselves using the EMP suppression system; Traffic Police officers can use EMP and spike strips (to puncture tires).
- ЭМИElectromagnetic radiation
A Traffic Police tool used during pursuits to shut down a suspect’s engine.
- РозыскWanted level (stars)
An official RP status for citizens, meaning they are suspected of committing a crime under the Criminal Code (УК). Issued by the FSB, Police Department (УМВД), or Traffic Police (ГИБДД) using /su [id/nickname] [stars 1–6] [Criminal Code Article N] or through /base; the reason must include an article from the current Criminal Code. You must have an IC reason to issue it (Warn).
Learn how chases work
Chases are a separate Traffic Police mechanic with their own steps. According to the faction guide, it works like this:
- 1
The officer opens the command base with /base, finds the player, and charges them, specifying the number of stars and the offense. The player is wanted and added to the Traffic Police officers’ case list.
- 2
If a car doesn’t stop at a traffic police checkpoint when signaled, its owner is automatically wanted.
- 3
The officer marks the suspect. When they get close, they receive a chase notification and confirm it by pressing the “Start” button.
- 4
The suspect gets the “Escape the Chase” task.
- 5
The Traffic Police use EMI to stall the engine and tire spikes to puncture the tires. PDV protects the car from EMI for 30 seconds.
- 6
If they stop you, the chase is a success: they pull you out of the car, cuff you, take you to the Police Department (УМВД), and put you in the holding cell (at the station). Or they take your driving licence and let you go.
The PDV description only mentions EMI pulses—it says nothing about tire spikes. So it’s better to use those 30 seconds of protection to get away, not to drive through a spike strip.
The term has two definitions. In the developers’ answers, PDV means “suppressor”; in the Traffic Police guide, it means “EMI suppression.” Either way, it protects you from the pulse.
The release, honestly: your questions answered!
✍🏻 The truth about the release: Q&A! The latest update to the tablet and factions got a lot of reactions and questions. We've carefully read your feedback and are ready to explain exactly how it all works. Let's go through the most common comments together! 1. Where do I get a radar detector, and who can use one? You can install a radar detector at the tuning shop. It can be installed on any vehicle. 2. How does the radar detector work? If you have one installed, it'll warn you in advance when you're approaching a speed camera zone. 3. How do I set up a camera? First, buy a camera and then use it from your Inventory. You'll see a list of available places to install it. Just get to an empty spot and set up the camera. 4. Where do I get a route sheet and military uniform? Army employees can get a route sheet from the dispatcher. Military uniforms are available for purchase at the Army faction shop. 5. What command does the Traffic Police use to inspect a vehicle? You can inspect a vehicle's trunk using the radial menu. 6. What is an EMP Suppressor? The EMP Suppressor protects a car from EMP pulses. This means that when it's activated, a criminal's car will be protected from any electromagnetic radiation and
Install PDV at the Technical Center beforehand
The Technical Center is in Arzamas. Find it with . Drive up and honk to be let into the garage. You can also upgrade your engine, brakes, turbo, nitro, and launch control there. The Technical Center menu shows the price of PDV. Find other repair shops and tire shops in the city on the map.
The developers specifically recommend preparing in advance: once you’re being chased, you won’t make it to the Technical Center. If you need your car for work rather than racing the Traffic Police, you can skip PDV—a law-abiding driver doesn’t need it. Check out the cars section to learn how to choose a car.
Escape chases without breaking the rules
Trying to get away is a legitimate part of the game. The note under rule 2.02 states that a normal chase and an attempt to escape using in-game methods don’t count as avoiding RP. You only get punished when you’re escaping the game or its logic, rather than the Traffic Police car:
- Leaving the game, going AFK (away from your device), or deliberately killing your character to avoid being detained, arrested, or jailed means a Warn; repeat offenses get a 3-day Ban.
- Driving a sedan across a field is NonRP driving under rule 2.03: Jail for 30 minutes. You can drive across fields on dirt bikes, off-road vehicles, and the starter scooter.
- Couriers, long-haul truckers, and cash collectors can’t cut across fields in work vehicles (rule 2.47, Jail for 60 minutes). But if they’re attacked, they can use a field to escape.
- Hiding in a green zone during a shootout to avoid dying counts as avoiding RP: Jail for 30 minutes or a Warn. See the green zone page for details.
Once they catch you, the server’s laws apply. On one server’s forum, failing to comply with a traffic police officer’s orders carries a 5,000-ruble fine (Administrative Code (КоАП), Article 7), while disobeying a law enforcement officer means 2 years in prison (Criminal Code (УК), Article 14). The wording may differ on your server, so check its Administrative Code and Criminal Code.
Know how a chase ends
If PDV doesn’t save you and they stop your car, the arrest RP starts. The officer pulls you out of the car (/ceject), cuffs you (/cuff), escorts you (/gotome), puts you in a car (/putpl), and arrests you at the station (/arrest). Don’t stay silent or ignore their roleplay: the rules also count completely ignoring roleplay that involves your character as avoiding RP. You can resist, but use /try—not “/me breaks free and runs away.” The roleplay commands page explains how to do it without powergaming.
Under Traffic Police rules, there are only two ways to clear your wanted status: have it reissued if it was given by mistake, or prove an error with evidence. If you end up in a Prison Service colony, you can escape only through the game’s built-in route via the sewers—the escape route.
Follow the rules when chasing suspects as Traffic Police
There are rules for the person doing the chasing, too:
- You can only mark someone as wanted or fine them for an IC reason (a reason that exists in-game); otherwise, you get a Warn (general rules for government organizations, rule 7.02).
- The reason for marking someone as wanted must cite an article from the current Criminal Code: “Art. 4 of the Criminal Code” or “Article 4 of the Criminal Code.” “Criminal Code” with no article number is a violation.
- You can only stop and search a car for an IC reason, too (rule 7.03).
- You can’t make arrests inside casinos or auctions, or during system events—the penalty is a Warn or a 10-day Ban (rule 2.50).
Traffic Police and Army tasks earn you tokens in your tablet—the faction shop’s currency. They disappear if you switch factions. For more about the job, see the Traffic Police page. You’ll find the entry test in the Traffic Police answers section.
